Kitchens need love too!

" The more you know, the more you can create, there is no end to imagination in the Kitchen. " Julia Child

As the centre of your home life, and the place where both literal and figurative nourishment takes place, your kitchen is the heart of the home.

That might be why having a clean kitchen feels like the first step in having a completely clean house, or at least, it can make you feel like you have cleaned the whole house.

To facilitate imagination and wellbeing in the kitchen, our very own organizer at Uptown Life Concierge has some suggestions to make cleaning the kitchen as effective as possible.

10 Steps to making your kitchen sparkle:

1. Clean clutter from the counters, and wipe clean.

2. Empty the dishwasher, put away the contents.

3. Give the sink a good cleaning.

4. Wipe cabinet doors.

5. Thoroughly wipe the outside of your fridge. Don’t forget to wipe the top as well

6. Wipe stove, and spend extra time cleaning inside your oven.

7. Empty and wipe down your garbage can.

8. Sweep and mop your kitchen floors.

The most overwhelming task is emptying and cleaning the inside of the fridge. For this task, we encourage having a plan. ULC shares our S.P.E.C. for cleaning the refrigerator:

S - exhale with the deepest sigh possible to eliminate that overwhelming feeling.

P - Plug out and turn off the refrigerator. Keeping the fridge open for long periods of time can waste electricity. It's safer to have the fridge unplugged when dusting the coils and cleaning the drip pan.

E - Empty refrigerator. While doing this, check expiry dates and discard items accordingly.

C - Clean the removable and irremovable parts of the fridge. Wipe the inside of the empty refrigerator with hot, soapy water, wipe with clean water to rinse off the soap.

Dry with a clean towel. A solution of 1 tablespoon of liquid bleach in 1 gallon of water to sanitize your refrigerator.

For a more natural solution, use equal parts hot water and white vinegar, mix in the juice of one lemon juice.

We hope these tips helped. Happy Refrigerator Cleaning.
